I have just returned from a short holiday in Turkey and in response to many requests from friends online, I have decided to write down my experiences of life as a Smoothie.
I have never been too sure what a Smoothie actually is. Most women are smooth in some way. They may shave lower parts of their legs, their armpits or much more. Men on the other hand tend not to shave anywhere other than their faces.
Why is this? I have no idea.
Anyway many men do shave or find that they are nturally not very hairy. My hair is very fine and comes off very easily. All my body hair is blonde and almost invisible. I have also experimented with shaving for fun.
It's also lovely when someone else shaves you, and that's why I enjoy Turkey so much. It's the land of great barbers and the ideal place for a great shave.
I had my first proper Turkish shave earlier this year in fact. And if you have tried one, traet yourself you'll really enjoy it.
First of all your face is shaved not just once but twice to make you as smooth as a baby's bottom. Putting the lather on your face is a wonderfully sensual experience, and it's so pleasurable just to let someone else do the hard work.
After that, any unsightly nose or ear hairs are trimmed as are your eyebrows. In fact, a good barber will literally set fire to your ear hairs with a burning taper, leaving a strange smell of burnt hair in the room. It takes a while for them to grow after this, so it's worth the nasty smell! Then comes the painful bit when your barber splashes some lemon smelling lotion on your face. And it stings! Then he puts some dollops of soothing and cooling cream on you and procedes to massage it in gently.
He'll work on your head and face, gently descending to your shoulders. I must admit I love this bit, because it always sends tingles down my body. He also shake your arms, crack your fingers and in my case fail to crack my neck (I tense up too much!). After that he'll shave any bum fluff off the back of your neck, and you're ready for the day!
