In September this year I was back in Turkey again. I went to my old barber, but he had moved on. The young lad who had helped him was still there, but sadly his only motivation was money. He charged me 15 lire for a regular shave, about 3 times the price that most barbers charge, even in the most touristy areas.
I remembered my shaves from the previous year with affection, but the sun was shining more this year, and that meant I really wanted to spend more time outside. Anyway I would have at least two, if not three Turkish baths instead, and I was really looking forward to those.
I was told of a good Turkish bath in one of the popular resorts. This surprised me because it came from a restaurant owner in the ghost town of Kaya. But I had tried it at the end of the holiday these previous year. And very good it was too. I was looking forward to going back.
